Working Hard For Irish Taekwon-do

The Irish Taekwon-do Council (ITC) exists purely to promote Taekwon-do in Ireland, and to provide a "level playing-field" for all instructors, schools and organisations when it comes to accessing information, education and statutory compliance.

What Can The ITC Do For Me?

Although the Irish Taekwon-do Council is still in its early stages of development, we are already working to provide a range of services to our member schools, and are busy organising even more. ITC membership will provide member schools with:

Access to exclusive training events and seminars
An annual Irish Taekwon-do Championship, open to ITC members across the entire island of Ireland
Guidance and advice from some of Ireland's most experienced instructors
Pathways to achieving coaching certifications, Garda Vetting, Child Protection training, and more

Group buying power and better prices for purchases of equipment, insurance and other club essentials
A platform to promote members' schools and events, through our Public Relations office
No restrictions on what national or international body your school may affiliate to

Oversight of coaching standards with regard to safety and inclusivity, but no interference in your school's training syllabus or administration
The opportunity to engage with and learn from our Officers & Committees, including our Safeguarding Officer, Anti-Doping Officer, Inclusion Committee, etc.

Who Can Join?

Any Taekwon-do school in Ireland that practices a style derived from the Chang Hon system, i.e. the pattern/tul set that includes Chon-Ji Tul, is welcome to apply for membership of the Irish Taekwon-do Council. Other styles may also be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Applications for membership will only be accepted from a school's head instructor, or an individual acting on their behalf, and with their explicit permission to do so. Only Taekwon-do schools and organisations may apply for membership; individual personal memberships are not available.

Note: Schools practising the Olympic/WT style of Taekwondo do not come under the remit of the Irish Taekwon-do Council. The official Sport Ireland & IOC recognised body for Olympic Taekwondo is the Irish Taekwondo Union / World Taekwondo Ireland. Schools wishing to participate in WT Taekwondo events, should contact the Irish Taekwondo Union.

Taekwon-do school and organisation representatives can make contact with us by using the form below. Upon receipt of your email, a member of our Executive Committee will contact you to give you more information about the ITC, and answer any questions you may have.

All membership enquiries are confidential. Applications for membership are assessed on a case-by-case basis.
The ITC reserves the right to refuse membership to any person or organisation without notice or explanation.
